The new year means new trade shows, and one of the largest in the nation kicks off Wednesday in Las Vegas.
Thousands of electronics services and products will be on display at the Consumer Technology Association's CES 2016. The industry event has grown so large that CTA capped this year's attendance at 176,000, concerned that it was running out of space.
In an opinion piece on FoxNews.com, CTA CEO Gary Shapiro encouraged government officials to attend the four-day event.
"Too often in today's polarized political culture, we think in binaries: support business or support government," he said. "But this ignores the very real ways in which both sides can learn from the other. Heavy regulation can hinder a vibrant tech sector, serving only to stifle innovation." http://fxn.ws/1Jpj5Wj
Also opening this week is the Archery Trade Association's 2016 ATA Trade Show, which will be held from Tuesday to Thursday in Louisville, Ken. Some 9,500 people are expected to attend.
"By attending the Show, everyone invests in our sports' futures," ATA CEO Jay McAninch said. "Today, each Show generates net proceeds of about $2.2 to $2.3 million to help grow archery, bowhunting and the industry itself."
The Craft & Hobby Association's Mega Show will launch Thursday and run until next Tuesday in Anaheim, Calif. This is the last year the event will be held in Anaheim, with next year's show relocating to Phoenix in a move that will allow the association to hold the event later in the month.
